All projects undertaken by Friends of Valkenberg Trust are financially managed with the implementation of the following controls :
Income and expenditure are budgeted and a dedicated banking account credited and debited. Any increases in spending or adjustments of budget are approved by the Trustees. All income is receipted on a daily basis and matched to bank deposits.
A monthly internal bookkeeping review is maintained and quarterly financial reports are prepared by an Accounting Firm and provided to the Trustees of Friends of Valkenberg. The Friends of Valkenberg Trust is an NPO and, although it relies heavily on donor funding it is also committed to income generation and raising funds through events. A good and long term relationship exists with a diverse group of regular funders and supporters. The fact that the organisation is still operating without debt, after more than 20 years, with the back-up of a small but solid savings account as contingency, indicates the success of its financial sustainability.
